Crédit Agricole is a french banking group that offers banking and insurance services. Its principal lines of business include retail banking, specialized financial services, insurance; and corporate and investment banking.

Overview

Getting into an accident is never fun, that is why Crédit Agricole Insurance has made it its priority to create the best online claims experience. My effort to transform the claims experience has resulted in a new 5 easy steps mobile claim.

Goals

To create a mobile-first journey that meets the needs of users in order to manage their claim 100% online without assistance. To build a stress-free UX and a self-service digital product.

My role

Competitive benchmarks, market research, data analysis, user personas, user flows, wireframes, prototypes, stakeholder and user interviews, information architecture, UI design, design system.

DiscoveryAnalysis & personas

I started the research process with extensive company review, market research, and competitive benchmarking to inform my UX strategy. With a detailed breakdown of the industry, target audience, and Crédit Agricole goals, I defined a set of actionable opportunities to re-focus Crédit Agricole towards a more upscale market.

It was necessary to analyze the approach of competitors in the fields of traditional insurance but also Insurtech startups. These elements have been grouped into an analysis report.

"Average Crédit Agricole Insurance user is a new visitor (84.4%), male (52%), age between 35-40 (64%), mostly employees living in the cities (43%). I observed a new generation of clients under the age of 30 (36%), singles (44%) male (53%) and female (47%) who bought car insurance for less than a year. These new clients are viewing the Crédit Agricole Assurances client portal from a mobile device on Chrome. 89 % of all population are ready to file an online claim."

A mobile-first claim

Filing an incident claim doesn't have to be a hassle. I wanted to simplify the functionalities and overall flow of the product through wireframing. I created low-fidelity wireframes, bringing together all the business constraints, techniques and UX ambitions, made it possible to build a first test prototype. This first construction aimed to test UX hypotheses and allowed me to lead design choices. Some screens were deleted, design system components were created, and each screen matches a specific need. From start to finish, each step of the claim can be done online.

"During the tests I noticed that some questions were clear yes or no choices. Testers validated these quickly. To keep operations clear, these questions were spread over several screens (1 question per screen), yet in UX logic, I noticed these simple choices could be proposed on the same screen. This allowed a reduction of the number of screens needed which kept the thread of the testing more seamless with less risk of confusion. This accelerated the completion and quality of the project."

Start your claim

To start go to the Crédit Agricole member portal. Access your account online and choose the type of claim you want to file and follow the instructions. It only takes 10-15 minutes to file a claim!

1. Circumstances

All that's needed is the approximate date of the incident and basic details of what happened. You can file online if you're involved in a collision like an impact with a pole, tree or fence, or a fender bender. Select your choice and jump to the next screen straight away. One click is all it takes.

Connecting the dots

There’s a lot to take in, but the user fills informations in an appropriate sequence. I provided percentage informations at each stage of the approval process with a progress bar and dotted steps. It eliminates the uncertainty that customers may experience throughout the traditional claim approval process.

2. Damages

Using the model below, you can select all the areas of your vehicule that have sustained damage, then specify how your vehicle's damage occurred.

3. Documents

Use the documents upload feature to share photos of the damage directly online instead of bringing your car to be assessed in person.

4. Coverage

If you’re involved in an accident and want to take care of it fast, file your claim online and view your coverage, deductible and liability information depending on the event that occurred.

Feedbacks

Information tips were high on the list of Crédit Agricole Insurance’s priorities for the online claim. These feedback messages answer all the questions they might have before moving to the next screen. I wanted to make the claims experience as easy and stress-free as possible.

5. Repair shops

You can book an appointment at one of the recommended repair shops for an estimate. Just another way Crédit Agricole insurance can get you back on the road quickly. Filing a claim is that easy. You’ll receive a confirmation, and that’s it. You’re good to go. Take care.

Reshaping screens with icons

I helped Crédit Agricole Insurance show off their online claim with new custom-built screens and a bespoke icon set. An extensive library of product icons created to help Crédit Agricole visually communicate the power of its platform and what it can offer its potential customers.

Whatever your favourite pastime, Crédit Agricole Insurance offers an abundance of different services and options depending on vehicle types. And for every vehicle, the online claim is designed to be quick, fair, professional and convenient.

A claim for every screen

I redesigned and adapted the claim to feel at home on desktop too. Crédit Agricole Insurance wanted their new online claim to be built both for desktop and mobile. I designed responsive and easy-to-update screens. The new claim adapts.

Setting the UI up

During the UI process, I streamlined the project goals while communicating the friendliness of Crédit Agricole and the connectivity of the brand. The darker green primary color set the stage for a smooth, trustworthy, and easy-to-navigate interface. Combined with touches of fresh green, white and grey reflected in the product icons and thoughtful user interface elements,

I created a user interface that appeals to Crédit Agricole Insurance’s target audience. An easy-to-follow guide, which is part of the design system, was created to ensure consistency of use and to help the Crédit Agricole development team implement the connecting shapes.
